Beverly "Jo" Herring Doll

January 30, 1950 ~ April 19, 2026

Born in: Robeson County
Resided in: Wilson, NC

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Beverly “Jo” Herring Doll, affectionately known as “Jo,” who departed this world peacefully on April 19, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family. Jo fought a courageous battle with cancer, displaying the same strength and resilience that characterized her extraordinary life. Born on January 30,1950, in Bladenboro, North Carolina, Jo was a beacon of kindness and grace who touched the lives of everyone she met.

Jo was the cherished daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Herring. She grew up in a loving family alongside her sisters, Margaret Herring Barnes and Donna Herring Allen (Gene), who remained her steadfast companions throughout her life.

On December 18, 1971, Jo married the love of her life, Wayne Edward Doll. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, spanning over five decades. Together, they built a beautiful family, nurturing their children, Eddie Doll and Kathryn Doll, with warmth and care.

Jo was a dedicated educator who graduated from East Carolina University with a degree in elementary education, later earning a master’s degree from Campbell University. She devoted 35 years of her life to teaching in Wilson and Rocky Mount, where she inspired countless young minds with her passion for learning and her nurturing spirit.

In her community, Jo was an active member of the Four Seasons Garden Club in Wilson, where she served as treasurer. Her love for gardening was evident, not only in the vibrant blooms that adorned her home but also in the seeds of kindness and generosity she planted in the hearts of all who knew her.

Jo’s legacy is carried forward by her beloved family: her husband, Wayne; her son, Eddie and his wife, Ramie, and their son, Will; her daughter, Kathryn, and her husband, Tareq, along with their children, Barrett and Payton. Jo’s grandchildren were the light of her life, and she took immense joy in cheering them on at their sporting events and spending cherished moments with them at the beach. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her family, Jo leaves behind a community of friends who were touched by her kindness and her willingness to help others. She was a devoted friend who found joy in reading and sharing stories, creating a tapestry of love and laughter that will be remembered and cherished.

Friends and family are invited to gather and honor a life beautifully lived.

A Celebration of Jo’s Life will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

A Private Family Burial of Cremains will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in Wilson.
