Betty Moss Bissette

April 15, 1945 ~ November 10, 2025

Resided in: Rocky Mount, NC

ROCKY MOUNT – It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Betty Moss Bissette, age 80, on Monday, November 10, 2025, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  Betty went home to be with the Lord and passed peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family.  She was born in Nash County, NC on April 15, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Glemon Roy Moss and Pauline Hendricks Moss.  She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Bobby Moss and Roger Moss; and her sister, Shirley Pace.

Betty was a woman of grace, strength, and unwavering faith.  Her love for God was at the center of her life, guiding her through every joy and every challenge.  She lived each day with gratitude and a gentle spirit that touched everyone who knew her.  Betty was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Frank, and their love was a true example of faithfulness and partnership.  Together they built a life filled with laughter, hard work, and the quiet, steady love that endures all things.  Betty was a devoted and adoring mother to her daughter, Marla, who was truly the light of her life.  Their bond was unbreakable — built on love, laughter, and endless support.  Marla’s happiness meant everything to Betty, and she took great joy and pride in watching her daughter grow into the woman she became.  Betty also shared a special bond with her son-in-law, Greg, whom she loved like her own.  She was so grateful for the kindness, care, and laughter he brought into Marla’s life and into their family.  Greg had a special way of brightening Betty’s day — often showing up with a box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts, a simple gesture that never failed to put a smile on her face.  Those sweet moments became one of their quiet traditions, reflecting the love and thoughtfulness she deeply appreciated.  Of all her blessings, none brought her more joy than being “Grandma” to her sweet granddaughter, Caroline.  Betty’s eyes would light up whenever she spoke of her, and every moment they shared was treasured beyond measure.  She adored Caroline and took great pride in watching her grow, always offering encouragement, laughter, and unconditional love.  Betty found such joy in shopping, not only for herself, but for the people she loved. She had a special way of finding just the right thing — a thoughtful gift, a small surprise, something that made you feel known and loved.  It was one of the many ways she showed how deeply she cared.  To know Betty was to know love — gentle, generous, and kind.  Her faith was her foundation, carrying her through life with grace and leading her peacefully to her eternal home.  Though she will be deeply missed, the love she shared will live on forever in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Betty is survived by her husband of 60 years, Frank Bissette; her daughter, Marla Tharrington and husband, Greg; her granddaughter, Caroline Jenkins; her brother, Alan Moss; her sisters-in-law, Mateline Moss, Betty Faye Bissette, and Peggy Bissette; several nieces and nephews; and close friends.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Betty’s life will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Charles Taylor officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Forest Hill Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
