Bertha “Jean” Sherrod Talbott

Bertha “Jean” Sherrod Talbott, age78 passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2016. She was born in Nash County and was the daughter of the late Lonnie Benjamin Sherrod and Jennie Lee Lamm Sherrod of Rocky Ridge. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bobby Talbott: brothers : Harold Sherrod of Sims and Cecil Sherrod of Kenly. Jean is survived by her children, Jacqueline Mallory and husband James “Jay” of Rocky Mount, Jennie Sessoms and husband Julius Lynwood of Tarboro, Bobbie Jo Newsome and husband Wayne of Wilson; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Joan Faye Stallings of Tarboro and her loving niece Jan Joyner of Raleigh. Jean worked for Burlington Industries for 25 years and is retired from Nash County department of Social Services where she worked for 15 years. The family would like to thank Spring Arbor and the staff of the Fountains of the Albermale for the love and care they showed to their Mother. Also, a special thank you to her in-home care givers who provided many months of continuous loving care prior to going live at Spring Arbor. Visitation with the family will be held Monday, May 9, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A Service to Remember will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services. The burial will take place following the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services, 1130 N.   1. Jackie, Jenny and Joan….my thoughts and prayers are with you all. I have fond memories of Bertha Jen and will cherish the fact that she and you all came to Dad’s 75th birthday celebration. I never had the opportunity to meet her; however, this week I have heard many great things about her and her time with the county.
