Benjamin Franklin Hendricks

Benjamin "Ben" Franklin Hendricks, Jr., 67, left this earthly life Friday, June 17th, 2011. He was born at Park View Hospital in Rocky Mount, NC on Sunday, January 23rd, 1944 to the late Benjamin "Turk" Franklin, Sr. and Pattie Smith Hendricks. Ben served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968 and received an Honorable Discharge. In his earlier years, he enjoyed school, participating in 4-H projects and showing his animals at the county and state fairs. After graduation from high school, he returned to the farm full time and remained active in agriculture the rest of his life. He loved the outdoors; working on farm equipment and watching things grow. He loved his pet dogs and they would follow him everywhere, even when working long hours in the fields. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 15 years, Patricia Faye Hendricks, one daughter, Shirley Bradberry and husband Tommy of Lago Vista, Texas, one brother, George "Robert" Hendricks and wife, Barbara of Battleboro NC, step-sons, James Vernon Finch and James Paul Finch. Sincere thanks are sent to the doctors and staff of the Intensive Care Unit at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville N.C., Dr. Seaman and the staff at LifeCare Hospital in Rocky Mount, N. C. and to the home therapist and caretakers. You all made it possible for Ben to return home to live out his last days. Thank You! The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home with Rev. Horace Ward officiating.
