ROCKY MOUNT – Barbara Staley Taylor, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. Born in Randolph County, NC on February 6, 1935, she was the daughter of the late William Esten Staley, Sr. and Sula Thomas Staley. She was also preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Ina Staley; and her brother, Leo Staley.
Barbara retired from teaching in the Nash/ Rocky Mount School System. She was a member of the Luncheon Pilot Club and First United Methodist Church of Rocky Mount.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Louis Jerome Taylor, Sr.; her two daughters, Roxanne Taylor and Vickie Taylor; and her son, Louis Jerome “Jerry” Taylor, Jr (Tammy). She is also survived by her grandchildren John Taylor (Nicole), Ashley Ammons (Ira), Patrick Taylor (Brittany), Melanie Craft (Kevin), and Stephanie Taylor (Joshua); 18 great grandchildren; her brother, William Staley, Jr.; her sister, Norma Ford (Lynn); and her sister-in-law, Nancy Staley.
A Celebration of Barbara’s Life will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church, 100 South Church Street, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Rev. David Joyner and Rev. Robert Bergland officiating. A visitation with the family will follow the service in the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Barbara’s memory to First United Methodist Church, 100 S. Church Street, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
