Barbara Floyd Barnes

Barbara Floyd Barnes, 77, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, January 30, 2010. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 1, 1932 in Robeson County, daughter of the late David O. and Alma Lewis Floyd. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Barnes; four brothers and two sisters. Barbara was a faithful member for over 40 years of Falls Road Baptist Church. The desire of her heart was to do the Lord's will and be what He would have her to be. She will be truly missed by all who loved her. She is survived by three daughters, Charla Young and husband Edward of Norfolk VA, Beckie Summerlin of Rocky Mount, and Betty DiDonato and husband Ronald of Greensboro; four grandchildren, Justin Young, Meredith Roberts, Sara McMakin, and Charles Presnell; and one great-grandson, Blake Browning. She is also survived by two sisters, Ruby F. Inman of Rock Hill, SC and Betty Floyd of Charlotte; sister-in-law, Margie I. Floyd of Elizabethtown; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends and relatives from 7-8:30pm Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. A funeral service to remember Barbara will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, February 3, 2010 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Monty Kaufman and Rev. Frank Hamrick officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Falls Road Baptist Church Building Fund, 722 Falls Road, Rocky Mount NC 27804.
