Our thoughts and prayers to Judy Anderson-Schmidt and family in memory of Austin Anderson Sr. Fellow Faculty & Staff of Rehabilitation Counseling & Psychology at UNC Chapel Hill
Mr. A was a very caring and loving man whom adored his wife. My favorite story as told by Mr. A While in the hospital, awaiting surgery, the nurse came in to prep him. She told him he would have to remove his wedding band. His response, This ring will never leave my finger, as I will never leave my wife. They wrapped tape around the wedding band and sent him in the operating room. What a commitment he had to his love, Margaret and to his family. I was fortunate enough to be the pupil of Mrs. A @ Roanoke Chirstian. She and her husband have remained very near and dear to my heart. I ask that God provide the family with the peace of knowing that he is now in the presence of God Almighty. May God grant you comfort during this most difficult time. Love and prayers Hazel Rook Horvath
Mr. Anderson was a great teacher at Gaston High School. He was loved and appreciated by so many students and parents. He will be missed. GHS Classes of 74 & 75
Worked with Chaplain Austin many years ago at Caledonia. I worked in the Personnel Office. I remember him as being very nice and helpful. He will be missed. Some words of comfort ~DEATH~ WHAT A WONDERFUL WAY TO EXPLAIN IT!!!!! A sick man turned to his doctor, as he was preparing to leave the examination room and said, Doctor, I am afraid to die. Tell me what lies on the other side. Very quietly, the doctor said, I don’t know. You don’t know You, a Christian man, do not know what is on the other side The doctor was holding the handle of the door; on the other side came a sound of scratching and whining, and as he opened the door, a dog sprang into the room and leaped on him with an eager show of gladness. Turning to the patient, the doctor said, Did you notice my dog He’s never been in this room before. He didn’t know what was inside. He knew nothing except that his master was here, and when the door opened, he sprang in without fear. I know little of what is on the other side of death, but I do know one thing… I know my Master is there and that is enough.

I met Mr. A and Mrs. A when I went to work at Gaston High in 1976. I have never met a better couple and fondly remember our times together. Mr. A helped me pick out a diamond for my wife Darlene, and performed our wedding vows with Mrs. A playing the piano. There was no finer man and our thoughts are with you Mrs. A, Ames, and Judi. The man upstairs now has a new right hand man!
Mrs. A our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Mr. A was a special man. I will never forget how kind you both were to me and my family while at Northwest H.S.
Missed but never forgotten. That is how I feel about Mr. & Mrs. A. Since I graduated from Roanoke Christian in 1984, I have felt this way. So many wonderful memories of school and they were just another part of all our families. Mrs. A we love you, please know that your family is in our thoughts and prayers.
I am sorry to hear of your loss. May God bless you. Rev. Anderson was a very special man.

Margaret, Ames, and Judy, please know how much all of you are in my heart at such a difficult time. It seems like only yesterday we were all in Roanoke Rapids. Austin will be missed, but most importantly, he has been loved and respected by all who knew him. As are the three of you.
I am sorry to hear about your family’s loss. May you have comfort in the love he served with all those that had the priviledge to meet him. He touched many lives. We will always cherish the honor he bestowed on us for he married us. God bless you and give you peace in this time of need. Love- Steve and Janna Lewis

I just found out that Chaplain Anderson has passed away. We always called him Chaplain on the farm at Caledonia. He was a very good man. May the Lord comfort Mrs. Anderson and the family.
To Ames Jr. and Family… I only met Mr. Ames Sr. once, but I can fondly remember how much his son loved and talked candidly about him. May God bless and be with your family during this time.

I knew Chaplain Anderson from my time working at Caledonia. One could always depend on him for a huge cheerful smile, a hearty laugh and heartfelt words. He was a very good man during his time on earth and I feel certain one of God’s very close angels. My sincerest condolences go out to his surviving family. He will be missed by all that had the privilege of knowing him.
