Asia Tant Manning

Lucy Asia Tant Manning, 87, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2010. She was born on May 15, 1923 in Wilson County in Elm City, NC. She graduated from Elm City School. She spent her working career at Copeland Dress Shop, Hicks Drug Store, and Planters Bank. She left the business sector after the light of her life was born and she began her favorite job as a mother and housewife. She was a member of the Garden Club of Rocky Mount and First Presbyterian Church. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, son, Brent Manning and wife Delby of Rocky Mount, NC; sisters, Betty Grace Lewis of Rocky Mount, and Barbara Hagans of Wilson; brothers, Charles Tant and wife Shirley of Roanoke Rapids, and Lemuel Tant and wife Dorothy of Elm City; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Maynard Astor Manning; grandparents, Green and Lucy Finch, and Lem and Elizabeth Tant; parents, John and Ellen Tant; sisters, Rachel Tant Joyner, Thelma Tant Gravasi, and Doris Tant Tosto; brothers, Buzz Tant and Raymond Tant. The family would like to extend special thanks to the care providers at Nash Rehab and Nursing Center, Nash Hospital, and Dr. Bales for their loving care they provided Asia throughout the past months. We would also like to send our appreciation to the members of First Presbyterian Church, Rev. Peter Bynum, and her circle of friends for their visits to Asia, the beautiful flowers and endless cards and phone calls. Visitation will be at the home of the son, Brent Manning from 3:00-4:30 and at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home from 7:00-8:30 on Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Reverend Peter Bynum will preside over Asia's service at the mausoleum in Rocky Mount Memorial Park beginning at 11:00a.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2010. In lieu of flowers, Asia requested donations be made to First Presbyterian Church, 153 North Church Street, Rocky Mount NC 27804. Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home, 1130 N.
