Annie Ruth Nett Barnes

Annie Nett Barnes, 84, went home to Heaven on Wednesday, September 07, 2011. Born in Pitt County on June 10, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Walter Smith and Lula Mae Boyd Smith. She was also preceded in death by her 1st husband, Peter Nett; her 2nd husband, Marvin C. Barnes; and several brothers and sisters. She had a great love for her family and her church. A loving mother and grandmother, she leaves behind her daughter, Carolyn Whitehead (Chris) of Rocky Mount; son, Ronnie L. Nett (Shirley) of Greenville; granddaughters, Marcia Sugg Closter of Rocky Mount and Heather Nett Ayres (Eddie J.) of Oak City; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Georgia Leigh Ayres; sister, Janie Hudson of Chapel Hill; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 6:00pm Friday, September 09, 2011 at Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will follow the service.
