Annie Lou Rowe Fisher, 73, died peacefully early Thursday morning in her sleep after a long battle with cancer.
She was born April 13, 1936 in Weldon, North Carolina to Forrest Nathaniel Rowe and Cordelia Blanch Brown Rowe. Lou graduated from Weldon High School in 1954 and studied nursing at the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Charlotte. She attained the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) credential and began her anesthesia career at Warren General Hospital in Warrenton, North Carolina. While practicing at Warren General, she worked with the late surgeon, Dr. Leul Kornegay and later joined him at the Rocky Mount Sanitorium Hospital.
Lou was an active member of the First Christian Church, the North Carolina Dental Auxiliary, and actively supported her children in Brownies, Cub Scouts, private music and dance lesson, and the RMSH Band Boosters.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 46 years, Dr. Julian Fisher of Rocky Mount; daughter Juliana Fisher of Durham; son, Julian Fisher Jr. of San Francisco, California; brother, Dr. David Rowe of Wingate, North Carolina; and special cousins, Sandra Cannon, Herb Rowe, and Dutch Seiffert.
A memorial service followed by a family visitation reception will be held Monday, December 7th at 2 pm at the First Christian Church 1101 West Haven Boulevard Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nash Hospice and / or the First Christian Church.
