Alfred M Waddell

ROCKY MOUNT - Mr. Alfred M. Waddell, Jr., age 84, died Saturday, February 12, 2011 at his home. He was born in Edgecombe County on July 6, 1926. He is preceded in death by his father Alfred M. Waddell, Sr., mother, Lucille Bradshaw Waddell, and brother, William E. Waddell. Mr. Waddell served as a radio/radar operator on a Naval Seaplane in the Pacific during World War II. He retired from Carolina Telephone & Telegraph Company after 41 years of service and was a member of Proctors Chapel Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce Britt Waddell; one daughter, Gwen W. Baggs; one son, A.M. Waddell, III; two granddaughters, Lauren and Whitney Baggs, and one grandson, Logan Baggs Graveside services will be 2:00p.m., Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Pineview Cemetery, Section 48, with Reverend Walt Cooper presiding.
