Zelphia Watson Summerlin

ROCKY MOUNT - Zelphia Watson Summerlin, age 92, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2019. Born in Wilson County, NC on February 6, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Roland Watson and Beulah Mae Edgerton Watson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Aaron Cevela Summerlin; her sister Peggy Watson Wooten; and her brothers Roland Watson, Jr., Bobby Lee Watson, and George Thomas Watson. A woman of strong faith, Zelphia was a longtime member of Englewood Baptist Church, a faith she impressed upon her family and others until her passing. She touched the lives of so many people and will always be remembered for her love and kindness to others. Mrs. Summerlin will be dearly missed by both her cherished family and friends. Zelphia leaves behind to cherish her memory, her two loving sons, Steven Summerlin and his wife, Patty, and Larry Summerlin both of Rocky Mount; her five grandchildren, Shannon Craver and her husband Nathan, Brittany Massey and her husband Joey, Christopher Summerlin and his wife Beth, Blake Summerlin and his wife Christian, and Aaron Summerlin, II and his wife Allie; as well as sixteen great-grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Christine S. Braswell of Raleigh; and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount NC 27804 with Assistant Pastor Dr. Chris Aiken officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home.
