Willie Sue Griffin Tripp

ROCKY MOUNT - Sue Tripp, age 81, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 26, 2017 surrounded by her family. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on July 12, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Griffin and Sallie Forbes Griffin. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Joseph Bryant Tripp, Sr.; and brother, John Stokes Griffin.
Sue was a loving wife, mom, memaw, sister, beloved aunt, friend and neighbor. She loved being a homemaker, sewing and cooking for her family and friends. Sue welcomed all her neighbors with homemade bread and cakes. She loved to share her faith in God. Sue will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Sue leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter, Carolyn Tripp Bass of Rocky Mount; and son, J.B. Tripp, Jr. and wife, Laura, of Rocky Mount. She is also survived by grandchildren, Joshua Smith; Bryant Tripp and wife, Victoria; Tyler Tripp; Jordan Tripp and wife, Meredith; Hunter Tripp; and Johnathan Bass; great-grandchildren, Jacob Smith and Chloe Tripp; brother, Milton Forbes Griffin and wife, Lou; sister, Addie Marie Matthews and husband, Marvin; and several special nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Dr. Steve Braswell officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services.
