William Robert "Bob" Jones was born on February 9th, 1945. On January 29, 2022, at age 76, Bob was welcomed into his eternal home with the words "well done thy good and faithful servant". Bob is survived by Linda Bishop Jones, the love of his life and devoted wife of 52 years; his daughter-in-"love" Paige Edwards, her husband Patrick Edwards, their three children, Boyd, Ida Belle, and Fielding Edwards; his three brothers- "Ronnie", "Mike", and "Bill" Jones, with their families; his Aunt Cindy Parker; brother-in-law, Oris Bishop, sister-in-law, Celia Whitehead, with their families; many dear cousins, nieces, and nephews; as well as his dedicated prayer group partners of more than 30 years, countless friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ.
Those there to welcome Bob into Heaven, include his beloved son and best buddy, Ethan Robert Jones; his father, Jack Jones; his mother, Celia Jones; and his mother-in-law, Mattie Bishop.
Bob leaves us with a legacy of unwavering faith in the Lord Jesus, utmost integrity, loyal service within the church, exceptional mentoring, intentional discipleship, constant devotion to family, extraordinary hard work, but most of all genuine LOVE. Bob went through life with a gentle, quiet, and humble spirit. When Bob spoke, his words were well thought-out, pleasing to Jesus, and heartfelt. Bob had devotion, not only to his faith, family, friends, and church, but also to his country. A veteran of the United States Air Force, Bob served in two deployments overseas and was involved in various missions with the Special Forces, during Vietnam. During his service, Bob endured many tragedies and hardships, which allowed him to witness God's deliverances. Bob experienced the greatness, provision, and sufficiency of God many times through his life, but none so much as following the tragic loss of his only child, Ethan, in an industrial accident. In all his trials and tragedies, Bob's faith in God stood unshaken, with his faithful wife, Linda, another steadfast believer, at his side.
Bob was an inspiration to all, an excellent husband, the best big brother, an awesome Gramps to his grandchildren, a true friend, and a role model, if ever there was one. Many have been blessed to know him and now ache with a hole in our hearts, at his parting; yet, we are all pleased, that he is now in the presence of his Savior and is reunited with his precious son, Ethan, and his loved ones who have gone before him.
A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, February 3rd, 2022, at Englewood Baptist Church, his home church, 1350 S. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. The visitation will be held from 1:00-1:45 pm, with memorial services officiated by Dr. Chris Aiken at 2:00 pm, and followed by a graveside service at Red Oak Baptist Cemetery. The family appreciates your outpouring of love for our family.

Thank you so much for helping us get this posted.
If you have any questions, please let us know.
Instead of flowers, Bob would hope that you would tell someone EACH DAY about Jesus and God's goodness (even in the tragedies, as God did give His only Son on the Cross for our Salvation); mentor a young person in Jesus' name; be intentional in showing acts of kindness to all, especially to strangers; and never cease to show those around you just how much you love them.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the family is requesting the need for social distancing and wearing of masks, due to the health concerns faced around our nation at this time.
Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. You may share memories and condolences with the family by visiting www.wheelerwoodlief.com.

Linda and family, I am saddened to hear of Bob’s departure. He was truly a fine man, a devoted Christian gentleman who helped others whenever possible over the years. What a difference one life makes in the world. May our Lord bless and comfort you and your family during this time of grief. Please accept my sincere condolences.
To all the family, I was heartbroken 💔 to hear of your loss. However, so happy to hear Bob is out of pain and walking with Jesus now. I had privilege to speak with Bob 2-3 weeks ago, maybe longer, and we were having church giving praise of healing his body was experiencing. So delighted he will never experience that former pain. Blessings always I had whenever in Bob’s presence. He was very, very kind and helpful when working together on CPA issues. RIP my brother Bob Jones. You will be missed.
I will truly miss Bob. He was such an awesome person. Sending prayers of comfort to his family and friends.
I am truly heartbroken to hear of Bob’s passing. Bob was indeed a fine man who loved his family and loved his God. Bob was one of the most honorable men that I have ever met. He was a dear friend and will be remembered always. Much love and prayers to all the family.
Mr. Jones has been a wonderful person. He was always professional and very knowledgeable. But most of all he was a kind person. He lived his faith everyday by his actions. There was not a doubt how much he loved the Lord. I am very blessed to have known him. May God bring peace and comfort to his love ones.
Such a great man and he will be missed. 🙏

Linda and family – so sorry for your loss. Bob is certainly worshiping at the feet of Jesus now. I know that he was anticipating the return of his Savior, but stayed ever busy for the Kingdom. All accolades are well deserved, but he would be quick to point to Jesus instead. Gail and I really appreciate all that he and Linda did in teaching and mentoring young people especially, including our own daughter. May God grant you Peace and comfort you at this time.

My heart and prayers go out to Linda during this time. When I first met Bob & Linda they were leading the singles ministry at EBC. Their love of this group came through in so many ways as they made each one feel like family. Out of that group several are now serving in full time ministry or serving in their local church. We are all better for knowing Bob and he will be miss by all of us.
Bob was a great man that will leave a hole in the hearts of those left behind. Take comfort that he is now in the arms of Jesus and getting to hug Ethan again. We love you and I pray for peace and comfort for you all.
Prayers for family. My brothers and I grew up with Bobby and Ronnie. Mom worked at your parents Corner Grocery. Such a good family. My prayers are with you in the coming days
Bob Jones was one of the best people I have ever met. He personified what a true Christian should be. He will be missed as was Steve Lewis until we see each other again.
My deepest love to Mrs. Linda and the Jones family. Mr. Bob was one of the greatest, kindest, loving, God filled man I’ve ever known. I am so grateful to have spent so much of my life with him and Mrs. Linda. I wished Covid had not put an end to our weekly visits but I’m blessed to have had 11 years full of love and laughter in your home. Every moment was precious and meant more than anything this world could offer. Zoie and I will never forget him and Zachary will continue to honor him with ever baseball game he plays. As he has seemed to acquire the nickname Mr. Bob since adding that to the back of his pink cancer jersey. I’m so glad we were able to honor him in that way before his promotion. With much love, Amy, Zoie & Zachary
Linda, Mark and I have prayed daily for you and Bob ever since we heard of his illness. We are so sorry to hear of his death. Sorry because his death is a loss for so many who knew, respected, and loved him. However, we can not help but rejoice knowing he is in heaven reunited with Ethan and so many others who have gone on before him. Mark and I will be praying for you as you grieve this tremendous loss. With love from both of us, Becky Abel

Linda, Charles Chuck and Hope W Manning know Bob Jones was a faithful Husband, Father and definitely a blessing to your family and the member’s of the Body of Christ. Our memories of Bob and you are riding your bikes with Ethan on the back of your bicycles when Ethan was only about 2-4 years old. Later we saw Christ in you throughout the years we knew you. What an example Bob has been to us as he marched the true walk of Jesus Christ. John 316
Linda, George and I cannot express how saddened we are to learn of Bobby’s passing… Bobby was a long time friend and classmate of ours… George and Bobby were team mates on the Sand Lot baseball team at Braswell School… lots of great childhood memories together….
