William Oscar Boone

W.O. Boone Jr. (Buddy), age 97, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, September 08, 2012. Born in Nash County on November 24, 1914, he was the son of the late William Oscar Boone Sr. and Sally Mae Bell Boone. Buddy retired from ACL/CSX Railroad as a supervisor after 38 years of service. Buddy was a servant of the Lord his entire life. He was known as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be missed by all. He leaves to cherish his memory, the love of his life for 46 years, Mary Davis Boone; son, Lindsey Boone and wife Janice; daughter, Margaret Smith and husband Prem; daughter, Martha Sutton and husband Gene; grandchildren, Claudia Hadley (Jeff) and their daughter Madison, Steve Hendren (Nicole) and their sons Matthew and Josh; sisters, Mae Chason, Trudy Brigman; and nieces, Betty Rose Winstead (Rudolph), Ida Lewis (Ray), and Lou Ann Herring (Romy). He had many other nieces and nephews from the following families; Vicki Parker (Kenneth) and daughter Kati, Kenny Davis, JoJo Manning (Steve), Debbie “Bunny” Davis, Chris Ligon, Carolyn McKee (Joe), Tommy Glover (Darlene) and Roger Glover (Amelia). The family will receive friends and relatives from 7:00pm to 8:30pm Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. A Going Home service will be held at 11:00am Wednesday morning in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Gary Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Nashville.
