William Joseph Jenkins

Rocky Mount - William "Billy" Joseph Jenkins, Jr., age 73, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2016. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on September 9, 1942, he was the son of the late William Joseph Jenkins and Sally Gray May Jenkins. Billy was a veteran of the NC Army National Guard. He worked for the US Postal Service for over 38 years. He was a member of the Benvenue Country Club where he loved playing tennis. He was a member of the NC Tennis Association and enjoyed playing in tournaments. Billy had love for his family and enjoyed spending time at the beach with them. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather and friend, and will be dearly missed but will never be forgotten. Billy leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 46 years, Gail Jenkins; his daughter, Jennifer Jenkins Pippin and husband, Todd, of Raleigh; and his son, William Joseph Jenkins, III and wife, Regina, of Boise, ID. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Spencer Pippin, Chandler Pippin, and Madeline Jenkins; and brother, Thomas Lee Jenkins and wife, Cindy, of Cape Carteret. A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Englewood United Methodist Church, 300 S. Circle Drive, Rocky Mount with the Dr. John Dutton officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to National Parkinson Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Miami, FL 33131.
