Thomas C Rowland

Mr. Thomas Clapp Rowland, age 86, of Rocky Mount, NC, died Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Nash General Hospital. Born August 28, 1923 in Nash County, NC, he was a son of the late William and Vivian Lee Rowland. He was employed in the textile industry as a dye technician. Mr. Rowland was most proud of his service in the United States Navy, and was an avid golfer. He loved his family and his friends. He is survived by his wife, Doris Rowland; daughter, Patsy N. Wheeler and her husband, Ronnie, of Rocky Mount, NC; son, Bill Nelms and his wife, Sara, of Rocky Mount, NC; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a niece. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother; and his beloved pet and companion, P. V. Funeral services will be held graveside at 3:30 PM on Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Pineview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter, 567 Shellcastle Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27804, on Saturday, August 14, 2010 from 7:00 until 8:30 PM.
