Terry Kent Roby
August 19, 1952 ~ March 14, 2022
ROCKY MOUNT - Terry Kent Roby, age 69, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022. Born in Rochester, NY on August 19, 1952, he was the son of the late William "Bill" Roby and Ruth Shean Roby. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas Michael Roby and Allen Wayne Roby.
Terry worked industrial construction for many years, building power plants, oil refineries and nuclear plants from coast to coast. He worked in sales at the retail level, acquired an Associate Degree in computers and many other related jobs. 17 years ago, he moved to Rocky Mount in need of a liver transplant. Terry had a long history of medical conditions but always found something to be thankful for and could always make a stranger smile. He loved his Lord, family, and many friends and will be greatly missed.
Terry is survived by his wife of 45 years, Deborah Roby; his children, Tim Roby of Durham and Erin Roby (fianc, Mike Jones) of Rocky Mount; his grandchildren, Lili Gutierrez (fianc, Dalten Bobbitt) and Bethany Woodson; his soon to be great-granddaughter, Hadleigh Grace (whom he was looking forward to meeting); and his little Jack Russell, Peanut.
A Celebration of Terry's Life will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Randy Martin officiating. Visitation with the family will be following the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home until 4:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Terry's memory to his granddaughters education: c/o Deborah Davis Roby, 129 Timberlane Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.

Terry, Looking Horse, and I became instant friends in Wake Hospital in April of 2019.. The nurses and their aids will never be the same. Our friendship and religious beliefs grew since that time and I so much enjoyed talking to him. We also discussed the world situations and we both agreed that we were ready to join our Lord but that we were not in a big rush. You got there ahead of my Terry, but I will see you in the blink of an eye. I know God has a sense of humor but take it slow my friend! I am in Prayer for Debbie and all your family and have the Faith and Hope that you are hole again. Billy
Debbie, I am so sorry to hear of this sad news. I remember Terry always being a fun-loving person and telling jokes to make others smile. I enjoyed talking to him and talking to you about him when we used to work together. I am sure he had a lot of wonderful nurses over the years, but it made me feel good that he called me his favorite nurse. I am sending you, Erin, Tim, Lili and Bethany virtual hugs and prayers during this difficult time.
