Sylvia Dolores "Lo" Pittman Bowen

ROCKY MOUNT – Sylvia Dolores “Lo” Pittman Bowen, age 96, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. Born in Nash County, NC on August 19, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Dalmar Pittman and Carrie Neal Pittman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Roosevelt Bowen; her sister, Ora Mae Pittman Neville; and her brothers, Earrion Gray Pittman, Albert Ray Pittman, and Irvin Wesley Pittman. A woman of faith, Lo was a past member Marvin United Methodist Church of Rocky Mount. Having been raised in the Mill Village community of Rocky Mount, she was quite proud of her upbringing and heritage. A dedicated and loving mother, aunt, and dear friend to many, Lo will be deeply missed and never forgotten.Lo is survived by her son, Thomas “Scott” Bowen and wife, Vickie; her nephew, Ray Pittman; her niece, Pat Gilliam; and numerous extended family and friends. A Graveside Service to celebrate Lo’s life will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Pineview Cemetery with Rev. Kim Lail officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM prior to the service at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
