Susie Marie Brake Shearin

Rocky Mount - Susie Marie Brake Shearin, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2015. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on June 12, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Lester William Brake and Lena Mae Gaither Brake. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Nettie Beard, Mary Lee Harrell, Lessie Mae Rodgers and Prudy Brake; and her two brothers, Joe Lawrence Brake and Bennie Warren Brake. Susie was a loving wife, caring mother, tender grandmother and great-grandmother, and a friend to all who knew her. A woman full of life, she knew just how to make anybody feel good about themselves and would always be there to help anyone in need, whether it was family, friend or stranger. Susie was well known for her famous soup, a dish enjoyed by all. She loved her rose garden. Her most cherished moments would always be those times spent with her family. Susie leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband Floyd Shearin; her four sons, Carl Shearin and his wife, JoAnn, of Rocky Mount, Billy Shearin of Rocky Mount, Warren Shearin and his wife, Christy, of Shelbyville, KY, Phillip Shearin of Rocky Mount, and Brad Pittman of Rocky Mount. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jonathan Shearin, Josh Shearin, Will Shearin, Sarah Shearin, David Shearin, Courtney Shearin Adam, Heather Shearin, Cortney Shearin, Justin Shearin and Faythe Shearin; her four great-grandchildren; and her two sisters, Ann Meeks of Tarboro and Daisy Cook of Augusta, GA. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 16, 2015 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services. Burial will follow at the Brake Family Cemetery on Cokey Road. The family will receive friends and relatives the evening of Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services.
