Stephen David Watson

ROCKY MOUNT - Stephen David Watson, age 65, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2017. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on April 14, 1952, he was the son of the late Thomas Speight Watson and Virginia Gupton Watson. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Tommy Watson and Kenneth Albert Watson. Stephen was a dedicated insurance agent for many years. He worked for RBC Liberty Insurance Company and Charlotte Liberty Mutual. He received many awards over the years for being the top agent in his region: Agent of the Month (twice); Qualifier Convention Trip; Life Underwriter Training Council; and Recognition of National Association of Underwriters. Stephen was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, and will be dearly missed by all those who knew him. Stephen leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife of 40 years, Patty "Pat" Carpenter Watson; son, Stephen "Thomas" Watson of Rocky Mount; and daughter, Michelle Watson Carroll and husband, Travis, of Zebulon. He is also survived by grandchild, Devin Carroll; brother, Robert Watson and wife, Mary-Katherine "Kay", of Winston-Salem; sister-in-law, Phyllis "Cookie" Needham Watson of Rocky Mount; and three nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 7:00 PM at Peoples Fellowship Baptist Church, 11972 East NC Hwy. 97, Rocky Mount with the Pastor Dave Grogan officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM prior to the service. Burial will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Pineview Cemetery.
