Stephanie Bridges Cook, 39, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Nash General Hospital from complications related to kidney disease. Her daughter said "she is now an angel" and we know that Heaven is her domain. Stephanie's greatest gift was love. She loved people, loved to talk, loved to just go anywhere and loved her twins, Megan and Dylan, enough to hang on for a few more heart beats. You see, they were in school when she was so near death. Their father rushed to get them in hopes of them seeing her one more time. When they arrived, they laid their heads on her chest and said "mom, I love you". Stephanie's heart beat a few more times, at least once for each of them. Then she passed. God is great even in our worst times.
Stephanie was born February 8, 1970 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. She graduated from Northern Nash High School in 1988. She attended Nash Community College and received a degree in phlebotomy. She worked at area hospitals until her health no longer permitted. Her family attended church at Church On the Rise in Rocky Mount.
Stephanie will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children, Megan and Dylan age 12 and her husband, Mike Cook of Red Oak, North Carolina. Her father and mother, Donald and Carole Bridges of Rocky Mount and Emerald Isle, North Carolina; her sister, Kim Payne and husband, Kevin and children Tyler and Taylor of Wilson, North Carolina; brother-in-law Bill Cook and his wife, Donna and children Cameron and Grant of Charlotte, North Carolina.
A celebration of Stephanies life will be conducted by the Rev. Richard Gurganus and Rev. Jason Cockrell at Church On the Rise, 3520 Bishop Road, Rocky Mount at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2010. A burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
