HICKORY – Stella “Kathleen” Johnson, age 73, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023. Born in Nash County, NC on December 7, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Julien William Johnson and Pattie Mae Tyson Johnson Seigman. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Robert Channing Moose.
Throughout her life, Kathleen found immense joy in the things we often overlook, such as appreciating the nuanced palette of houses, the delicate flowers, and the allure of well-tended gardens. An enthusiast of old homes, antique furniture, and picturesque gardens, she had an innate ability to appreciate the beauty in life's details. Even in the later stages of her battle with Alzheimer's, Kathleen reminded all of us to find joy in the things we often overlook.
Kathleen's time with her grandchildren was marked by laughter and love. She found profound joy in each moment spent with them, and she would want her grandchildren to know she loved them immensely. While her battle with Alzheimer's took some moments away, the love she held for each grandchild was indelible. Kathleen's unwavering support and encouragement made her an inspiration to her children. Her legacy is not just the memories shared but the enduring lessons of love, resilience, and the celebration of life's often overlooked joys.
Kathleen is survived by her children, Julie Coffey Moose, Brooke Coffey, Isaac Coffey, and Adam Coffey; her grandchildren; her sister, Sarah Johnson Tripodi (Jim); her brothers, Julien William Johnson, Jr. (Terry) and Timothy Carey Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.
