Schaffer Lee Poore, age 95 of Scotland Neck, NC formerly of Anderson, SC passed away on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Scotland House, Scotland Neck, NC.
Born December 28, 1923 in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Dewey Lee and Corrine Shirley Poore. He was a graduate of Pendleton High School, class of 1941 and went on to serve his country during World War II in the United States Navy. He was an accountant and worked for Reeves Brothers in Spartanburg, SC for many years.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife of 49 years, Gladys Bridges Poore and his second wife of 17 years, Elizabeth Lawson Poore; brother, Calvin Poore and two sisters, Doris Kinley and Evelyn Watt.
Schaffer is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jim Lee Poore and Kay of Rocky Mount, NC and daughter and son-in-law, Carol Poore Tilley and Allen of Dallas, TX; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and his good friend and caregiver, Billy Delbridge of Roanoke Rapids, NC.
The graveside service will be at 1:00pm Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Mr. Billy Delbridge officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
