Sarah Harris Dickens

Sarah Elois Harris Dickens of Rocky Mount NC passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 21, 2011. She was born in Halifax County, the daughter of the late Robert Preston and Arline Williams Harris. Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Myers and husband William of Ballston Lake NY; her two sisters, Dorothy Murphey of Hollister NC and Geraldine Stevenson of Brooksville FL; and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Charles K. Dickens; two sisters, Ava Rice and Jeanette Hux; and two brothers, Percy Harris and R. P. Harris. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Harris Chapel Baptist Church in Hollister. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00pm to 8:30pm Friday, September 23, 2011 at Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Harris Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1472 Williams Road, Hollister NC 27844.
