Sara Frances Jones Rodriguez

ROCKY MOUNT - Sara Frances Jones Rodriguez, age 76, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 16, 2022. Born in Nash County, NC on May 4, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Sentelle "Touch" Jones and Sara Parrish Jones. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Rodriguez Rodriguez. Sara was a 1964 graduate of Rocky Mount Senior High School (Blackbirds). She received a Bachelor of Mathematics from NC Wesleyan College in 1970. Sara started working at the Census Bureau in 1972. She began working as a librarian at Nash Community College in 1998. Sara had a fondness for travel and was an avid reader and listener. Sara was a devoted mother and friend and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her, but her loving spirit will never be forgotten as she was everything to her family. Sara is survived by her daughter, Cristina Frances Jones Joyner-Rodriguez and wife, Sherry, of Rocky Mount; her daughter #2, Danielle Joyner of Wilmington; her special nieces, Kimberly Hoff and Hope Pierce; lifelong friends, Bill & Brenda Bendel and Phillip & Sylvia Joyner and family; and first husband, Greg Beard; and the Joyner and Moore families. A Celebration of Sara's Life will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Dr. Jody Wright and Rev. Elizabeth Edwards officiating. Visitation with the family will follow the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home until 1:30 PM.
