Ruth Odell Barefoot

Ruth Odell Chapel Barefoot, 89, passed away on July 26, 2014. She was born on November 10, 1924 in Nash County, NC. She was the daughter of the late Robert Chapel and Edna Greene Chapel. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Barefoot, her longtime companion, Steve Privette, two sons, Paul and Ed Barefoot, three sisters, Louice Chapel, Francis Boone, and Elma Patterson, and three brothers, Melvin, Lee, and Jimmy Chapel.
Ruth is survived by four daughters, Annie Hinnant and husband Jeff of Kenly, Jackie Bissett and her husband Ken of Pinetops, Alice Adams and her husband Joe also of Pinetops, and Angie Macaskill and husband Angus Mark of Zebulon; her son, Robert Barefoot and wife Louella of Rocky Mount; and two daughter in laws, Carol Barefoot of Rocky Mount and Pat Barefoot of Pinetops. She is also survived by her grandson, Wayne Barefoot and his fianc Sherry Cockman of Danville, VA, 20 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and a host of other close family and friends.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. A funeral service will be held at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Gerald Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery.
