Ruth Casey Workman

Ruth Casey Workman, age 91, went home to heaven on Wednesday, September 3, 2014. Born in Lenoir County on March 3, 1923, she is the daughter of the late Rowland Hardy Casey and Bertha Robinson Casey. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Retha Harper, Betty Wilkes, Lorraine Price, Melba Dozier, Helen Sherrod and her beautiful great grand-daughter, Brandy Lea Red. She leaves behind two loving daughters; Carolyn Ruth Moore and husband, Ronald of Zebulon and Brenda Gail Reed of Zebulon and one loving son, Calvin Roscoe Williams and wife Texine of Belvidere, NC. Her memory will live on through her beautiful eight grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren. Ruth had a heart of gold, she was as quick as a pistol and smart as a whip. She knew no stranger and she touched the lives of all she knew. Ruth had a profound love for the western culture and could always be found with her cowgirl hat and country music close by. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother and enjoyed the company of family and friends. She was well known for entertaining with her special one of a kind cooking which was unmatched. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 7, 2014 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at Wheeler Woodlief Funeral. A celebration of Ruths life will be on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 10:00 am at Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery.
