Robert Sills Strickland

ROCKY MOUNT - Robert Sills Strickland, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 from pancreatic cancer. Born in Nash County, NC on May 3, 1937, he was the son of the late Clarence B. Strickland and Daisy Harper Strickland. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Herman and James Strickland. Robert worked for several years as a parts manager for various car dealerships and retired in 2002 from Walker-Ross Printing Company. He was a member of Englewood Baptist Church and the Gideons International. Robert was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Robert is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jewel Gay Strickland; his son, Robert Gregory Strickland and wife, Lorie; and his granddaughter, Jordan Strickland. A Graveside Service to celebrate Robert's life will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Pastor Charles Taylor officiating. A visitation with the family will follow the service at the graveside. Because of COVID-19, the family requests that everyone respect their wishes and wear masks and practice social distancing.
