Robert Henry "Dick" Arnold, Jr.

March 2, 1939 ~ October 4, 2022

NASHVILLE – Robert Henry “Dick” Arnold, Jr., age 83, left his earthly home on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, to join his parents, the late Robert Henry Arnold, Sr. and Zettie Ann Williamson Arnold; his brother, J. C. Arnold; and his sisters, Susie Arnold and Merlyn Lewis in their heavenly home. Dick was born in Duplin County, NC on March 2, 1939. Dick proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves and the North Carolina Army National Guard. He was employed in the automotive industry for many years and prior to his retirement he was a paint contractor. Dick was a dedicated member of Sunset Avenue Baptist Church. He enjoyed coaching little league baseball, supporting the Northern Nash Marching Band and enjoyed spending time at Emerald Isle. Dick especially enjoyed surf fishing with his sons and niece, Jane. Dick is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bonnie Lou Warren Arnold; his two sons, Robert Henry Arnold, III and wife, Elizabeth, and Michael Warren Arnold and wife, Melissa; three beautiful granddaughters, Kelsey, Holly and Madison whom he adored and enjoyed spending time with; and many special nieces, nephews, and friends. A Funeral Service to celebrate Dick’s life will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022, at 3:00 PM at Sunset Avenue Baptist Church, 3732 Sunset Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804, with Dr. Robin Fisher officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Chapel of Memories Mausoleum. A visitation will be from 1:30 PM to 2:45 PM prior to the service in the Fellowship Hall of Sunset Avenue Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Dick’s memory to Sunset Avenue Baptist Church, 3732 Sunset Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804 (Acts 1:8 Ministry or to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering). Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.   7. Dick Arnold was a member of Benvenue Baptist Church before he left here in 1966 to become a part of Sunset Avenue Baptist. Our members remember Dick and Bonnie. We wish to extend our love and prayers to the Arnold Family. God bless each of you!
