Robert Edward Cummings

Robert Edward Cummings, age 75, passed away at Autumn Care Friday, August 19, 2011. Born in Nash County on January 1, 1936, he was the son of the late Marvin Edward and Viola Walker Cummings. In his early years, he was a farmer and worked at M C Braswell Company until he became a feed salesman for Spartan Grain. He later was the owner of Cummings Feed and Grain in Enfield, NC and Rocky Mount Feed and Farm Supply until his retirement in 2004. He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Stowe Cummings; two daughters, Debra Cummings Sims and husband Walter of Athens, AL; Lisa Cummings Watson and husband Scott of Rocky Mount; one grandson, Stephen Scott Watson and one granddaughter, Walker Anne Sims. The family will receive friends and relatives 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2011 at Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home. A graveside service to celebrate Bob's life will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at Battleboro Cemetery with Rev. Daniel Peede officiating and assisted by Rev. Horace Ward. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the outpouring of love and support since Bob's stroke. The prayers, visits, cards and words of encouragement were greatly appreciated.
