ROCKY MOUNT – Rebecca Anne Williams Chadwick, age 67, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, April 20, 2024. Born at Park View Hospital in Rocky Mount on October 6, 1956, she was the daughter of Lloyd Cecil Williams and Mecie Elizabeth Williams. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Rebecca is survived by her husband of 34 years, Robert Chadwick, her sister, Victoria and husband, Arnold Lawing, her daughters, Christie and husband, Johnny Joyner, Melissa and husband, Boo Causey, grandchildren, Maigon Joyner, Tyler Joyner, Emma Webb, Evan Joyner, Jayci Webb, Ally Causey, and one great-granddaughter, Gabby Altizer.
Rebecca graduated from West Edgecombe School in 1974. Her first job was working for Abbott Labs where she worked with her sister Vicky and her future brother-in-law Arnold Lawing. She later worked for many Rocky Mount companies including Barcalounger, Eagle Transport, and Hardees Corporate.
Rebecca was a social butterfly who never met a stranger and always treated everyone like family. She was born with a caretaker's heart and that is how she lived her life, always giving and doing for others.
Rebecca loved worshiping with her church family and singing in the choir was one of her passions. It was more than just the music she enjoyed but rather the close relationships with the other members that she really cherished. Church was where she always felt loved and welcomed.
As a young girl Rebecca often dreamed of being a Mama and a Mama she was! She instilled the devotion to family in her children by her words and actions. She was a loving, caring, and self-sacrificing mama to both Christie and Melissa. Rebecca cherished all her grandchildren. She loved being Nanny, and she always showed up at their events to be their biggest cheerleader! Rebecca also loved taking pictures. It was not just a hobby for her but rather memories that would last a lifetime.
Although we might have complained at the time, we will forever cherish the memories she left for us in her pictures that will continue to touch our hearts.
At a single's Christian ministry of Sunset Baptist Church, Rebecca met and fell in love with Robert. She found a man who loved Jesus, her girls, and her family. Together they both cared for their parent’s every need and showed them what devotion to family truly looked like.
Rebecca's (Nanny's) legacy will continue to shine through her husband, sister, children, grandchildren, and all her precious family and friends who knew and loved her. One of Rebecca's favorite quotes was "When you get the chance to sit out or dance I hope you DANCE."
So Rebecca's final wish for you is "I hope You Dance".

We went to school together at West Edgecombe, then my family moved which placed me in the city school system which introduced me to Robert. Rebecca was such a good friend to all and put family first. I’m so thankful for our 60+ years of friendship. I know her precious mama and daddy were waiting for her at heavens door. Rebecca, I’ll love you and miss you forever.

Rebecca truly lit up any room she entered. So full of life and joy. She had a gift of putting people at ease, making people feel like they matter. She drew people in, could talk to anyone about anything. What a loving soul, a giving and kind soul. This world was blessed by the full and lovely life of Rebecca.
With love from the Weaver family.

I met Rebecca over 30 years ago and right from the start I was blown away by her loving and outgoing nature. We became fast friends.
She not only shared her relationship with and her love for Christ with others, she lived it out, showing the love of Christ to whom ever crossed her path in any way. She touched so many lives and will be missed so much by so many. She was a true, loyal and caring friend who was in the position of understanding me in ways others cannot. She helped me through some tough times, gave me advice and most importantly prayed for me. She was a loving and devoted wife, mom, and grandma who was always there whenever her family needed her. Many hugs and prayers for her precious family during this time and in the many days that follow. Hold on dearly to each other and your memories of her and live out the legacy of love that she instilled in you. May Christ give you the peace that passes all of our understanding. Rest easy in the fact that she is now healthy and in such awe and unending joy in the presence of her sweet Savior. Joe and I love you all!♥️
Much Love, Tammy

Robert, I am so sorry for you loss. Thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.
There are no words to express the great loss everyone will feel now that Rebecca is with Jesus. She always cared so much, loved so much, and would do anything any time of day or night for anyone. She and Robert have been there with us as beloved friends from the beginning until now. Our hearts are so sad and yet we rejoice for her! She rescued me so many times and was the ear and hug that I needed. We watched our children grow up and mature together and cried and laughed and prayed through it all. Rebecca and Robert were strength for so many people and I know they gained all of it from our Lord and savior. She was and is a true gem and a gift that the Lord gave to us. We are forever thankful for her friendship, her testimony, and her love. She will be forever in our hearts. We love you Robert and Rebecca! Bruce and Dawn Turner
