Peggy Kay Simpson

Rocky Mount - Peggy Kay Simpson, 62, passed away peacefully at her home after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis on Saturday, September 19, 2015. Born in Greenville, SC, on June 19, 1953, she was the beloved daughter of Juanita and Boyce Kay. Peggy spent her childhood in Greenville, SC, Salisbury, NC and Raleigh, NC. After graduating from Broughton High School, she attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Peggy was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Hannah Kay. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 31 years, Dennis Arden Simpson; her son, Andrew Dennis Simpson and his wife, Kathryn Smith Simpson, of Raleigh, NC; and her step-daughter, Legare Catherine Simpson of Wilmington, NC. She is also survived by her father, Boyce Calmer Kay, and his wife, Kathryn, of Surf City, NC; her brother, Dan Harris Kay, and his wife Jeni, of Caswell Beach, NC; her nephews, Jim Kay and his wife, Laura Kay of Cary, NC; and Jon Kay of Indiana; many loving friends and her canine companions Buddy and Maggie. The family will receive guests at the Simpson home on Monday, September 21 from 6:00PM to 7:30PM. A Memorial Service to celebrate Peggys life will be held at Lakeside Baptist Church, 1501 Sunset Ave, Rocky Mount, NC on Tuesday, September 22 at 11:00AM with the Reverend Jody Wright officiating. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contribution in Peggys memory may be made to the National MS Society at P.O. Box 4527, New York, NY 10163; or a charity of your choice.   1. I went to Sanderson High School with Peggy. She always had a smile on her face and loved people. She was fun to be with and enjoyed life to the fullest. She introduced me to pork rinds at a slumber party and I never could understand the reasoning behind that snack. She will be missed. Becky Norkus
