Paul has been an adjunct professor for Mount Olive College a short time, but he has performed with us many times. His sense of humor, his professionalism on the organ, and his heart for teaching will be sorely missed. He was just in my office last week giving me a cello piece he thought I’d enjoy. On April 20th, 700 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Mount Olive the MOC Concert Choir will perform the Rutter Requiem. Paul was supposed to be our organist. We are going to perform the work in his honor and memory. Our prayers are with his family– Dr. Alan Armstrong Chair, music department Mount Olive College P.S. I would be at the service tomorrow if I could–but I’m at Harvard right now.
I met Paul last year when he would accompany Sherri Damon, and I was immediately impressed with his playing. Whenever he stopped by the department we would always have a nice chat and share a joke. The last two Christmas seasons, Paul asked me to read for the Lessons and Carols service that he and his choir performed. I was happy to do so — and thought the repertoire he chose for the Boys and Girls Choir was top notch. He was a dedicated musician and we will miss him very much. Stuart Burnham
We are so sorry for your lost. Nick your dad would have been so proud of you in your wonderful performance on Sunday. You are a tribute to your dad and mom by being such a wonderful young man. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers. The Georges Maryann & Kalyn
I knew Paul Cunningham his whole life. His parents are my parents best friends and they lived next door to us when I was growing up. I always admired Paul’s love of and dedication to music. He truly persued his dreams–how many of us can say we did that I am certain that music brought him joy every day. His musicall talents were truly a gift from God, for whom he is no doubt playing right now.
I knew Paul and his family while he was organist and choirmaster at All Saints Episcopal Church in Morristown, Tennessee. He was a fine organist and shared his music with us until his move to North Carolina. His sense of humor, and shared love of music was a gift to us at that time. He will be missed as a friend and mentor. Alex, Nick and Quincy – remember that his legacy and love will be with you in your hearts throughout your lives. I’m with you in spirit today as you celebrate his life and accomplishments. He will be missed. Mark Joyce, All Saints, Morristown, Tennessee

Paul and I recently reconnected on Facebook. We were good friends and performed together in high school at Eastside High School. We were going to try to get together for dinner his next visit home! This is such a shock and tragic. My prayers are with his family.
Paul was a good friend of ours while he and the family lived in Oregon. We greatly enjoyed his musical talent and his passionate personality. He will be missed by us and will always be remembered fondly. Would love to hear from Debbie. Fondly, Anne & Paul [emailprotected]
