Paul Wesley Bacon

November 12, 1965 ~ November 12, 2023

Paul Wesley Bacon, 58, of Rocky Mount, NC, passed away on November 12, 2023, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 12, 1965, in Bennington, Vermont, Paul was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. By trait, Paul was a master plumber for over 30 years, utilizing his skills to help countless individuals and families. However, his true passion resided in the kitchen. Paul found immense joy in cooking for his loved ones and bringing everyone together. Whether it was preparing meals for his family and friends, cooking at Crunch’s Camp, or organizing school dinner fundraisers, Paul's culinary expertise was unmatched. He had a knack for making delicious dishes out of leftovers, ensuring that no one ever left the table hungry. As he used to say, "If you're cooking for eight, call my mother and ask her how to cook for four." Paul's generosity and selflessness extended beyond the kitchen. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, never hesitating to put others before himself. Paul was a handyman who possessed a wide range of skills. However, he often joked that the saying "never ask a plumber to do his own plumbing" held true for him. Nevertheless, when he finally got ‘round tuit’, his work was nothing short of exceptional. Paul's dedication to helping others extended to the end of his life, as he always felt the need to take care of everyone around him. Paul is survived by his loving wife, Taryn, and their children, Derek, Dylan (Brittany), Micaela, and Shelbi. He was a cherished Papa to Skylynn, Jaxson, Axl, and Ford. Paul is also survived by his mother and father, Dona and Tom Hoard, his mother-in-law Sheila Hoyt, his sister Carly Bacon, his brother Doug Hoard (Carroll), and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his father, Steven Malik, his father-in-law Frederick Hoyt Sr., his grandmother Fifi, his brother Tom Jr., his Aunt Chip, and his uncle's Fred, Dominick, and Barry. Paul's faithful companion, Ryder, also preceded him in death.Paul was a proud graduate of the class of 1983 from Arlington Memorial High School. Beyond his professional and family responsibilities, Paul had a love for anything that went fast. Whether it was driving his old cop car, his 1986 Ford Mustang, or enjoying the thrill of riding motorcycles and snowmobiles, he was always drawn to speed. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, an all-time Bill Elliot fan, as well as an avid New York Giants and New York Met Fan. Paul will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His warmth, generosity, witty humor, and passion for life will forever be remembered and cherished. A celebration of Paul’s life will be held for family and friends on April 20, 2024, at the American Legion in Arlington VT. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Scott Thomas Scholarship Fund, C/O Vicki Dejnozka, 318 Far View Rd Arlington, VT 05250, or the ASPCA. Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
