Patsy Bass Sykes

ROCKY MOUNT - Patsy Bass Sykes, age 82, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2017. Born in Nash County, NC on April 8, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Broddie Bass and Harriet Edwards. She was also preceded in death by her son, Timothy M. Sykes; brother, Charlie Bass and sisters, Betty Ann Tedder and Carolyn Bass.
Patsy enjoyed the beauty in caring for her garden, the same care she gave to her family through the years. Her love for preparing family meals which would bring laughter and happiness to the family table was always a cherished moment. Pasty was a woman of strong faith. She touched the lives of so many people and will always be remembered with love and kindness. A devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Pasty will be dearly missed and will never be forgotten.
Patsy leaves behind to cherish her memory, husband of 63 years, Lervern Sykes; children, Cynthia Everett and husband William, Jr., Robert L. Sykes and wife, Amy Ferrell, and Vickie L. Valduvinos and husband, Luna. She is also survived by grandchildren, Gresham Everett (Abbie), Seth Everett (Heather), Andrew Everett, Amanda S. King, Jamie Clemmons (Allen), Nicholas Valduvinos (Jessie), Christopher M. Sykes, Kimberly R. Sykes, and her grandson stationed in Italy, Senior Airman Victor Valduvinos (Yazmin); great-grandchildren, Jameson Everett, Sutton Everett, Hillary Everett, Witten Reeves, Austin and Reagan King, Joshua and Olivia Clemmons, Christian and Arabella Valduvinos, and Mackenzie B. Mangum; and brother Henry Bass.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services with Rev. Bryan Sheehan officiating. Burial will follow at Sykes Family Cemetery, 6976 Mecum Road, Spring Hope. The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services.

My prayers and love is with your family – i know what a hardship this is – i will always remember Wednesday night service at her house and she would cook and cook and cook…. She was a wonderful cook!!
