Nellie Driver Perry

BATTLEBORO – Nellie Driver Perry, age 91, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023, with her beloved son by her side. Born in Nash County, NC on December 26, 1931, she was the youngest child of the late Lonnie D. Driver and Tempie Bone Driver. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Charles Howard Perry; and her eight siblings, Kathleen Styres, Irene Fisher, Annie Mae Griffin, William David Driver, Marjorie Leonard, Lonnie “L.D.” Driver, Archie Driver, and Lula Bell Boone. Nellie was a 1951 graduate of Red Oak High School and was always present at the Alumni Banquets. She was extremely gifted in arranging flowers and was owner of a Florist for several years. Nellie was a marvelous cook, always sharing meals with friends and family. She was a caregiver most of her life, having taken care of her bedridden Mother for many years, her father, and her brothers and sisters, at different points in their life. Nellie is survived by her son, David Graham Perry and wife, Donna; her grandsons, Graham and Daniel; her granddaughter, Cheyenne; her special nephew, David Griffin; and a host of other nieces, nephews, and friends. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Chapel of Memories Mausoleum with Pastor Mark Pridgen officiating. Entombment will follow the service. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM prior to the service in the Mausoleum. The family would like to say a special thank you to Sarah Foster, her caregiver, whom she loved dearly. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Nellie’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
