Naomi Fisher Philips, 81, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013. She was born in Nash County on June 19, 1931, daughter of the late Luther and Sally Stewart Fisher.
Naomi was a gracious, quiet-spoken Christian lady. She personified a selfless and unconditional love for family and friends, modeling a servant's heart. Naomi was a former member and grew up in the Battleboro Baptist Church. Her current membership was at St. John's Episcopal Church in Battleboro where her membership exceeded 50 years. She will be greatly missed by her friends there. Naomi took great joy in sewing infant maternity (receiving) blankets for the newborn babies of friends, relatives, and aquaintances. She wrote poems about farm life and country living. Often her poems were about dear childhood friends, documenting memories from days gone by and common experiences shared. Naomi was quick to send get well and sympathy cards to anyone she knew who was sick or bereaved.
She is preceded in death by Frank P. Philips Jr., her husband of 59 years. She is survived by son, Parker Philips and wife Carolyn S. and their son James Patrick of Battleboro; son, Stewart Philips and wife Carolyn V. and their daughters, Candice P. Bissette and husband Josh of Sims, Nichole P. Denny and husband Travis of Spring Hope; son, Burt Philips of the home; and son, Frederick "Rick" Philips and wife Kelly B. and their daughter Jordan and their son Alex of Battleboro. Naomi is also survived by one sister, Pearl F. Newland of Elkton, Florida; sister-in-law and husband Nell Philips Bryan and Dr. William Blair Bryan of Charlotte; six nieces and eight nephews. She is also preceded in death by her sisters, Edele Fulcher, Clarice Johnson, Annie Lou Melvin, and Emily Nuckols.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the physicians, nurses, and staff of Nash General Hospital who cared for Naomi. Also, the consummate, loving care she received at Autumn Care of Nashville, including the entire staff and personnel is greatly appreciated. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Dan Crocker and Dr. Shandal Emanuel, Naomi's primary physicians.

Parker, Stewart, Burt and Rick I was so sorry to hear of the death of Naomi, but how wonderful to know she is perfect now and in heaven. I picture God holding out His hands to welcome her into His presence. I always thought Naomi was such a sweet and true Southern lady. I know you will miss her dearly. Love, Sue Hicks Pittman
