NASHVILLE – Max “Darryl” Garner, age 71, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023. Born in Halifax County, NC on May 15, 1952, he was the son of the late Max Linwood Garner and Elizabeth Cooke Garner.
Darryl was an avid fisherman and loved spending time with his family at the beach. A talented craftsman, he enjoyed woodworking and was blessed with the ability of working with his hands. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and dear friend to many, Darryl will be forever loved and always remembered.
Darryl is survived by his wife, Gayle Adkins Garner; his daughter, Brandy Mcleod; his step-daughters, Elizabeth Keeter and Susan Everette and husband, Grant; his grandchildren, Ada Catherine Everette, Anna Everette, Emma Everette, Jordan Clay, Dylan Clay, Ayden Jenkins, Tristan Mcleod, and Jasper Mcleod; his brother, Carl Garner and wife, Sue; his sisters, Joanie Garner Ferguson and husband, Donald, and Mary Jane Garner Clay and husband, Jimmy; and many nieces and nephews.
A Private Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at a later date.
