Mary Etta Lindsey Vick, 93 years old, went to heaven on October 27, 2012. She was born in Nash County on August 13, 1919 to W. Nathaniel Lindsey and Sallie Winstead Lindsey. She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Grady L. Vick and her husband, Ervin T. Vick.
Etta was known in the community for her service and longstanding membership to Barnes Hill Free Will Baptist Church. In addition, her talent as a seamstress was shared with family, friends, and community. Etta was also known for her love of animals and the beautiful wonder of Gods creations. She often said that she could never let an animal go hungry and would frequently be seen working in her garden with a cat or dog by her side. Ettas passion for nature was notable throughout her yard and gardens that always got larger than she intended.
Etta leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Edward Trent Vick; her daughter-in-law, Faye C. Vick; grandson, Evan Vick; and granddaughter, Tricia Vick Gillian.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 30, 2012 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Dick Singleton officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
Etta will be greatly missed, but we are comforted in knowing that as a woman of God, she is now gardening in heaven with the Lord.

Trent and Faye, will keep you in our thoughts and prayers as you adjust to the loss of Aunt Etta. It is so difficult when moms go home even though we know in our heart they are enjoying those streets of gold and walking with Jesus. Love – Bev and Lonnie
