Mary Elizabeth “Aunt Lib” Pearce

Mary Elizabeth "Aunt Lib" Pearce died May 26, 2011 in Durham, North Carolina. Lib was born in Franklin County on September 17, 1917 to Bennie Boddie Pearce and Bertie Kearney Pearce. While Lib was never married nor had children of her own, she was known to all as Aunt Lib. She was dedicated to her family and loved them very deeply. Aunt Lib retired from Rocky Mount Mills. Surviving relatives include her sister and best friend Cleo Pearce O'Connell of Rocky Mount, her niece Kathleen O'Connell Tapp (Steve) of Durham and nephew Thomas Patrick O'Connell (Elizabeth) of Chapel Hill. Aunt Lib is also survived by other nephews, a niece, great nieces, and great nephews. These family members include a great niece, her namesake, Elizabeth Pearce Tapp and a great nephew Davis Alexander Tapp who she enjoyed living with in her later years. Visitation will be Sunday, May 29, 2011 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home in Rocky Mount.
