Martha Becknell McAdams

Rocky Mount - Martha Becknell McAdams, age 79, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2016. Born in Nash County, NC on July 22, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Otha Eugene Becknell and Jessie Batson Becknell. She was also preceded in death by her son, Gordon Rankin McAdams. A woman of strong faith, Martha attended, as was a member of, First Baptist Church along with her husband. She centered her family on the love she had for her church, and remained active within the church helping others. In her free time, Martha enjoyed the beauty in caring for her garden, the same care she gave to her family through the years. Her love for preparing family meals which would bring laughter and happiness to the family table was always a cherished moment. When time would allow, she would always find peace and tranquility at the family beach home and the memories those moments brought will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Martha leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, A. Gordon McAdams; her daughters, Mary Lynne Weaver and her husband, Todd; and Elizabeth Cobb and her husband, Mike. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jessica Lynne Weaver; Sarah Martha Weaver; Ashley Melvin and her husband, Cody; and Catherine Green and her husband, Doug. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church, 200 S. Church Street, Rocky Mount with Pastors Dennis Darville and Larry Curtis officiating.
