ROCKY MOUNT - Martha Ann Wells, age 91, a long-time resident of Virginia Beach has passed away in Rocky Mount, N.C. on Friday, February 18, 2022. Predeceased by her husband, Lt. Col. James Earl Wells of Virginia Beach; and youngest daughter Jamie Grace Williams of Texas.
Surviving children are Ann Lynn Meeker of Michigan, Ann Lynette Brown and James Robert Wells of Rocky Mount, N.C. She has 11 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, and special friends all of whom will miss her loving ways, her wit, and her generosity. Martha dabbled in writing. She was in the process of writing a book called "Pride and Dignity" of her experiences of taking care of her husband who suffered with Alzheimer's disease. The book was never completed. She also loved to write poetry. We leave you with one of her poems:
"It's my belief that we make memories
by the things we do and say
And we decide for ourselves
What memories we will keep and
What memories we will throw away"
