Marie Moore Tyson

ROCKY MOUNT - Marie Moore Tyson, age 72, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Nash General Hospital. She was born in Johnston County on April 18, 1938, one of 15 children of the late Lawrence Hoyt Moore and Cindy Lee Moore. Marie graduated from Park View School of Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse. She was also a member of Parkwood Baptist Church in Rocky Mount. She is survived by her loving husband, Roy J. Tyson; daughter, April Dawn Tyson Exum and her husband Ashe of Kinston; daughter Maribeth Tyson Wooten and her husband David of Red Oak; son, Michael Royce Tyson and his wife Candy of Macclesfield; sisters Christine Creech of Smithfield, Gretchel Jones and Audrey Wooten both of Clayton; brothers, Elwin Moore and wife Joyce of Sandston, VA, Hoover Moore and wife Nora of Panama City, FL, Billy Moore and wife Anna Jean of Sandston, VA, Robert Moore of Emerald Isle, NC and Linwood Moore and wife Peggy of Wilsons Mills, NC; five grandchildren, Ashe B. Exum, III, Jordan Marie Exum, Andrew Christian Wooten, Samantha Tyson Wooten and Michael Steven Tyson. Marie was preceded in death by four brothers, Melvin Moore, L. H. Moore, Glenwood Moore and Raeford Moore and two sisters, Geraldine Powell and Margaret Moore. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Marie Tyson will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 24, 2011 in the Chapel of Wheeler-Woodlief Funeral Home, with Rev. Mark Pridgen, Jr. and Rev. Jimmy Wooten officiating. The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
