Margaret “Margie” Tanner Proctor

ROCKY MOUNT - Margaret "Margie" Tanner Proctor, age 92, passed away at her home on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 surrounded by family and loved ones. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on May 11, 1928, she was the daughter of the late George E. Tanner and Willie Betsy Harris Tanner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Proctor, Jr.; a sister; her two brothers; her nephew; her sister-in-law; and her son-in-law. Margie was a woman of great faith, and we rejoice with the angels that she is safe in the arms of Jesus. She loved to spend time with her family, and she loved cooking, sewing, and reading. Her favorite pass time was playing solitaire and rummy, cheating allowed. Margie was a member of Fellowship of Praise Church for 41 years and was very active while her health allowed. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Margie is survived by her children, Henry F. Proctor (Bonnie) of Rocky Mount, Rose Parker of Henderson, Larry R. Proctor (Cheryl) of Boone, and Tammy Braswell (Chuck) of Rocky Mount; her grandchildren Bryan Braswell, Betsy B. Sauls, Ray Proctor, Jinny Johnson, Frankie Proctor, Jerry Johnson, Wayne Johnson and Terry Jones all of Rocky Mount, Rafe Parker of Henderson; Jeff Parker of Lake Royale, Cody Manning, Logan Cotton both of Rocky Mount, Melissa P. Griffin of Castalia, Brian Edwards of Wilson, and Scott Proctor of New Bern; her 16 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren; 4 nieces and 3 nephews, which include Sue Batchelor and Betty Ray both of Rocky Mount; and a special sister-in-law Alice Tanner. A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home. The family would like to especially thank Margie's special friend, caregiver, and nurse Sandra Price for her love, care, and compassion over the last four years and for being her rock to lean on. In addition, the family would like to thank Norma Richardson and Karen Little for the love and kindness they expressed to Margie.
