ROCKY MOUNT – Magdalene Conway Boone, age 89, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 24, 2023. Born in Nash County, NC on June 18, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Annie Elizabeth Conway. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, James O. Boone.
Magdalene worked at Belk Department Store for over 30 years. She was a very active and faithful servant who loved her family, her church family, her Sunday School Class (Peacemakers), and her many friends. Magdalene enjoyed traveling a little bit with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Magdalene is survived by her son, Ronald Boone of Rocky Mount; her daughter, Deborah B. Watkins and husband, Steve, of Kennesaw, GA; her two grandchildren; her five great-grandchildren; her brother, Bob Conway and wife, Georgia; her sister, Marjorie Overman; and her four nieces.
A Graveside Service to celebrate Magdalene’s life will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Pineview Cemetery with Pastor Richard Collins officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, January 26, 2023, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.

Maggie was not only my mother’s sister but also her best friend. Theirs was a lifelong, loving and supportive friendship. She will be sorely missed.
