LUCILLE WRENN ALFORD
ROCKY MOUNT – Lucille Wrenn Alford, age 89, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024. Born in Franklin County, NC on March 17, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Ollie Jack Wrenn, Sr. and Margie Josephine Smith Wrenn. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Earnest Alford; her sisters, Elsie Mae Wrenn Joyner and Helen Wrenn Jackson; and her brothers, Maurice Stanley Wrenn, Ollie Jack “O.J.” Wrenn, Jr., and William Arthur “Bill” Wrenn.
Lucille was a devoted wife, mother, and an excellent homemaker. She enjoyed maintaining her home, cultivating her plants and flowers, and cooking wonderful meals for her family. She was always happiest when in her home. Lucille enjoyed having long conversations with neighbors and members of her extended family. She loved daytime soap operas and boasted that she had watched nearly every episode of The Young and the Restless up until a few years ago.
Lucille married Lawrence, her Prince Charming, after a brief courtship. Together, they lived their version of the American Dream for 62 years. She often remarked that she had been a “lucky girl”.
Lucille is survived by her daughters, Quinn Thomas of Raleigh, Cheryl Bentley of Rocky Mount, and Marcie Daniels of Weatherford, TX; her grandson, Miles Alford of North Myrtle Beach, SC; her two granddaughters, Marlie Daniels and Amberlie Daniels both of Aledo, TX; her brother, Russell “Pete” Wrenn of Louisburg; and her sister, Marie Wiggs of Raleigh.
A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at a later date in the Chapel on the Hill Mausoleum at Rocky Mount Memorial Park, 4454 Dortches Blvd., Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
