Lovane Williams Jones

NASHVILLE - Lovane Williams Jones, age 93, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2017. Born in Wake County, NC on August 2, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Ola Mae Williams and Paul Vernon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bennett Thomas Jones; son, Thomas Earl Jones, Sr.; and sister and brother-in-law, Tramillar “T” and Alvin Brantley. Lovane was a dedicated nursing assistant for many years, first at Parkview Hospital, then moving to Rocky Mount Sanitarium, and on to Nash General Hospital from where she retired. She will be most remembered for always welcoming those she loved with open arms as well as her generosity to those around her. Having never met a stranger, she would always place others before herself and always having time to help a friend in need. Lovane opened her heart and her home to anyone and always had an open seat at her table. A woman of great faith, she was a longtime member of The Church of God, where her steadfast ministering to others was ever so evident. She especially loved the Sunday School Ministry and also loved ministering to children. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother and friend to all, her devotion and love will never be forgotten. Lovanes best advice to her family and all was “family, whatever you do, you love each other”. Lovane leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters, Doris Matthews and her husband John, Peggy Shearin and her husband Elwyn, and daughter-in-law, Judith (Faye) Rackley Jones. She is also survived by grandchildren, Rita Vaughan and her husband Kevin, Anna Joyner and her husband Leland, Sondra J. Yelton and her husband Robert, Thomas Earl Jones, Jr. and his wife Kimberly, Debbie Funderburke and her husband Fred, Jennifer Cagle and husband Brian; great-grandchildren, Ashley Lynn Ellis and her husband David, Tommie Lynn Triplett and her husband Dustin, Alisa Erin Yelton, William Thomas Yelton, Dustin Funderburke and his wife Lindsay, Aubrey Grace Cagle, Allison Renee Vaughan, Meredith Leigh Vaughan, Matthew Leland Joyner, and Lindsey-Grace Joyner; great great-grandchildren, Madi Ellis and Deliah Triplett, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 3, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services with Rev. Carlyle Hall, Jr. and Rev. Daniel Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, April 2, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services.
