Louraine Ingram Strickland

Wilson - Louraine Ingram Strickland, age 96, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015. Born in Faison, NC on September 4, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Bryant Everett Ingram and Addie Lee Ingram. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Daniel “Ray” Strickland; and her brother, Lemmie Ingram. A woman of great faith, Louraine was one of the founding members of Englewood United Methodist Church and held her faith close to her heart. She was a spirited soul and always gave onto others as was evident with her tenure with Burlington Industries where she would later retire. Following her retirement, she would work along-side her husband Ray and son Wayne in operating their furniture store, Dixons Furniture Co., Inc. Louriane was a loving mother, caring grandmother, great-grandmother, and great great grandmother, and a dear friend to all. Louraine leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, Roger Wayne Strickland; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Anne Strickland. She is also survived by her three granddaughters, Sherri Anne Strickland-Carter and her husband Clint, Stephanie Louraine Strickland, and Arian Nicole Janke; nine great-grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Englewood United Methodist Church, 300 S. Circle Drive, Rocky Mount with Pastor John Dutton officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service beginning at 12:00 Noon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Louraines name to Englewood United Methodist Church, 300 S. Circle Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
