Lou Adkins Walker

WHITAKERS - Lou Adkins Walker, age 68, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2015. She was born on May 6, 1947 in Halifax County to the late Lewis Adkins and Catherine Boyd Adkins. A graduate of Enfield High School, she was a bookkeeper for Threatt Plumbing and Fire Sprinkler Company for the past 10 years. She was a member of Whitakers Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, James Carlton Walker of Whitakers; step-daughters, Amanda W. Clark and her husband “J” of Red Oak and Barbie Barllett and her husband Roger of Evansville, IN; step-sons, Paul Walker and his wife DeeDee of Rocky Mount and Noah Walker of Red Oak; two sisters, Merle A. Taylor of Enfield and Gayle A. Garner and her husband Darryl of Red Oak; and three brothers, Franklin Adkins of Grifton, NC, Marvin Adkins and his wife Betsy of Southport and Ronnie Adkins and his wife Vickie of Red Oak. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Adkins Phillips and her two special friends, Chico and Raven. Graveside services will be held at 10:00am on Friday, June 19, 2015 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park, 4454 Dortches Hwy, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Rev. Billy Howell officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2015 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services, 1130 North Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. The family would like to thank her caregiver, Ada Hendricks; and the staff of Hospice Palliative Care of Nash General Hospital. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in Lous memory to Hospice Palliative Care of Nash General Hospital, 2460 Curtis Ellis Drive, Rocky Mount, North Carolina, 27804.   1. Lou and I were kin by marriage, but we were close friends by choice. Lou always put 110% into everything she did, be it working, cleaning, or just being a friend. Heaven has a special Angel and we have suffered a great loss. May God give us strength and endurance to soften the blow of her passing. Special prayers are being sent for Carlton and family.

  2. When you loss someone to death , remember this prayer is an avenue of communication that can become available to give you any time. (James 2 2, 3) What a wonderful gift we have been given. John 3 16, gives us all the hope, for our future. What love we have been given.
